Getting Moving
I have been very hard on myself this week about not eating right and not being able or having the willpower to do this. I know I need to get moving and I am holding myself back like I am waiting on something, only I don’t know what I am waiting on.
I overate one night this week at home, but it was steak and salad and it didn’t elevate my blood sugars too high. This was more a result of not eating enough during the day and letting myself get to starving in the evening . I don’t want to forgive myself for this becuase I don’t want to use it as an excuse to overeat, but I am going to try and back up and be patient and do this slowly. If I must “cheat” myself once in awhile, then at least I will try to make wise choices about the food that is on my plate.
Mornings
My morning glucose is 125, this is still higher than I want to see it. I had chicken breast strips and some grapefruit for dinner last night and two glasses of milk plus some sugar free chocolate. I don’t know how to bring this down!
I am still wondering if it is having my period that has my body out of whack or if it is a new set of test strips? I have an old meter, I guess I should test with it and see if I get the same results.
Frustrations!
I don’t understand! Last night my blood glucose was 110 before bed. I get up this morning, after eating nothing else and it is 159. It has been high all day and still at 144 tonight. I guess this is not really considered high but higher than the range I have been in in and it concerns me since I just started an increase in the Metformin over the weekend from 500 mg 1x per day to twice a day. Could my period and hormonal issues be affecting this?
The journey begins….
My journey actually began 42 years ago.
I was born into a family with a combined genetic makeup that not only has been passed on but has spelled out “RISK FACTOR” for most of my life.
I saw all the signs along my path, “Watch What you eat!”, “Don’t drink too much”, and ” Watch your temper!” but I didn’t really heed them.
I remember being a child and my mother telling me that I had to watch what I ate or it would catch up with me someday. Well it did! I guess mom always does know best!
My grandmother (and my great-grandmother before her) were both diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes later in life. My mother seemed to avoid this, but my Uncle was also recently diagnosed. All the women on the maternal side were of large frame. My grandmother, at the time of her death, had a fatal combination of high cholesterol/high blood pressure and congestive heart failure, topped off with breast cancer, emphysema, and the type 2 diabetes. The congestive heart failure had progressed too far by the time they found the breast cancer, so they were not able to operate on it. I am sure that she also had sleep apnea as her snoring often made funny recordings, but also was really irritating while you were trying to sleep in the next room.She was also a chain smoker and an alcoholic.
